Hyeyeon Chung is an artist originally from Seoul, South Korea, currently living and working in London. She holds a BA in Korean traditional painting from Chung-Ang University and MA in Fine Art: Drawing from the University of the Arts London.

Her artistic practice explores the intersection of landscape, memory, and diasporic experiences, blending traditional landscape techniques with contemporary elements. Hyeyeon’s work features intricate, monochrome compositions that fuse scenery with personal and collective memory, creating meditative spaces through repetitive, precise mark-making. Her attention to the textures and materials of textiles, such as linen, mirrors her broader exploration of space, surface tension, and perception.

Hyeyeon’s compositions invite viewers to question visual representation and their own perspectives, drawing on subjective interpretations of reality. Her work is informed by both personal memory and broader social narratives, continuously interrogating the boundary between truth and perception.

At the heart of Hyeyeon’s art is a deep investigation into how we see and interpret the world. She weaves abstraction with nostalgia, inviting audiences to reconsider their perspectives and engage with the layers of memory and perception within her work.  She has exhibited widely across Asia, Europe, and the U.S., including solo exhibitions in Berlin and Seoul, and recent group shows in London.

Hyeyeon’s art is a poetic blend of craftsmanship, emotional reflection, and conceptual inquiry, constantly evolving as she navigates themes of perception, self-awareness, and artistic expression.
